Paul proclaims that Timothy must "preach the Word," because the time will come when the church will not endure sound doctrine but turn aside to myths. The day will come, according to Paul, when the church will want their "ears tickled" and accumulate teachers that are according to their own desires. Paul's remedy is to preach the word.
