Worldview Seminars

One of the best ways to get a huge amount of information and instruction into your church, campus ministry, or senior youth group is by scheduling a seminar or a retreat.

Teaching can include one specific topic, or several topics. Either can be easily accommodated. Because some material is usually so new to people there is time scheduled for Q&A.

Topics taught and discussed have ranged from Establishing a Christian Worldview, to Evolution vs Creation. I've also taught on Postmodernism, the Reliability of the Bible, Christianity and Culture.

What Are Worldview Seminars?

Worldview is a "buzz word" heard all over from the news media to the pulpit. Worldview is the way we understand and make sense of our world. The way I've defined worldview is that it is the lens through which we interpret reality. A secular worldview is what today's culture is pressed to employ. Scientific naturalism is an extremely secular approach to life. It dominates the circles of the academic world. Postmodernism is more cultural yet also finds a strong home in the world of academics. Both of these affect our culture and the church. What is needed is a "biblical worldview."

A "biblical worldview" is interpreting reality (our world) through the lens of the Bible. The Bible speaks to belief and conduct in every major area of life. Politics, education, economics, family, science, and entertainment are some of the topics that directly relate with our worldview. This seminar teaches us how to recognize other worldviews as well as how to build a Christian worldview.

Introduction to Apologetics

The seminar on apologetics is an introduction to the most misunderstood subject. Defending our faith is great need in the church today. In this seminar I cover the basics I see necessary to learn in order to defend your faith. It is an "introduction" in every sense of the world. I go over my introduction to apologetics and the three subjects I find our young folks are constantly battling with. They are: relativism, both concerning truth and morals; Darwinism or scientific naturalism, and the reliability of the Bible, especially the New Testament. A special emphasis is given to Postmodernism.

This is a seminar that ought to be taught after a worldview seminar, but one that can be grasped easily. Staying away from the technical side of the subject, there are many practical examples. This seminar removes doubts and strengthens faith in the truth of the Christian message.

These are suggested sessions.
Session 1 - Introduction, Explanation, and Definition of Apologetics
Session 2 - What is Truth? Foundation for All Knowledge
Session 3 - Basic Arguments Against Christianity
Session 4 - Refutation of Arguments Against Christianity
Session 5 - Understanding Postmodernism and Why It Doesn't Work
Session 6 - Conclusion, Wrap-up, Q &A's

How We Got the Bible

Another seminar offered is on "How We Got Our Bible." This seminar refutes the current controversy Bart Ehrman began with his book, Misquoting Jesus. The seminar lays a foundation for the reliability of the Bible, especially the New Testament. Using the documents of the eyewitnesses to Jesus' resurrection, the early Church Fathers, through to the Medieval period the material reveals what the title states, how we got our Bible. This is another encouraging faith-building seminar.
